The main goal of ASCOMARE is to facilitate the widespread and uniform implementation of the law of the sea, in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal 14.c. This includes first and foremost the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea aimed at establishing a legal order for the seas and oceans. To achieve this goal, ASCOMARE provides high-level consultancy and legal research in matters related to the law of the sea. Its staff comprises of legal practitioners and experts in manifold areas of international law, who have already served in top international bodies and institutions. The work of ASCOMARE is inspired by human rights and environmental principles.
