
STATUTE OF THE ASSOCIAZIONE DI CONSULENZA IN DIRITTO DEL MARE (ASCOMARE)
Article 1 – Name and Headquarters
1.1 The Association named “Association of Maritime Law Consultancy” (ASCOMARE) is hereby established.
1.2 The headquarters of the Association are located at Via Pisello 16, 73010, Lequile (LE), Italy, and may be relocated by resolution of the Board of Directors.
Article 2 – Purposes and Objectives
2.1 ASCOMARE aims to promote the study, research, and consultancy in the field of maritime law and related disciplines.
2.2 The Association is committed to:
- Providing legal consultancy and technical-scientific support in maritime law.
- Promoting education and dissemination of maritime law through events, publications, and training courses.
- Collaborating with public and private entities and international organizations to foster the sustainability of marine resources and the protection of the marine environment.
- Supporting research and development projects in the maritime sector.
Article 3 – Members
3.1 Membership in ASCOMARE is open to all individuals and legal entities who share the Association’s goals and accept its statute.
3.2 Members are classified as:
- Founding Members: those who participated in the establishment of the Association.
- Ordinary Members: those who join afterward.
- Honorary Members: distinguished personalities in the field of maritime law, appointed by the Board of Directors.
3.3 Membership may be terminated by withdrawal, expulsion, or death.
Article 4 – Governing Bodies of the Association
4.1 The governing bodies of the Association are:
- The General Assembly.
- The Board of Directors.
- The President.
4.2 General Assembly:
- The Assembly is the sovereign body of the Association and meets at least once a year.
- It is responsible for approving the budget, electing the members of the Board of Directors, and deliberating on amendments to the statute
4.3 Board of Directors:
- The Board of Directors is composed of an odd number of members, elected by the Assembly for a three-year term.
- The Board is responsible for the ordinary and extraordinary management of the Association.
4.4 President:
- The President is the legal representative of the Association and chairs the Board of Directors and the Assembly.
- The President serves a three-year term and may be re-elected.
Article 5 – Assets and Financial Resources
5.1 The assets of the Association consist of:
- Membership fees, if applicable.
- Contributions from public and private entities.
- Donations, bequests, and other income generated from the Association’s activities.
Article 6 – Amendments to the Statute
6.1 Amendments to this statute may be proposed by the Board of Directors or by at least one-third of the members and must be approved by the Assembly with a qualified majority of two-thirds of the members present.
Article 7 – Dissolution of the Association
7.1 In the event of the dissolution of the Association, the Assembly shall decide on the allocation of the remaining assets, in accordance with the law.
Article 8 – Final Provisions
8.1 For any matters not provided for in this statute, the provisions of the Italian Civil Code and applicable laws shall apply.
